Hi:
Wanted to let my friends here know what;s up. I came home Tuesday night to find Marni laying on the floor by the bed with blood dried on her face around her mouth. She had what is known as eclampsia, which is when the body starts to reject the baby and has symptoms of very high blood pressure and siezures. Marni had a siezure and I don't have any idea how long she was laying on the bed.
I carried her down to her ZJ and drove to Sutter Roseville, where they diagnosed her. They immediately transferred her to Sutter Memorial which has one of the best risk pregnancy and NICU departments in the country. At 6:30 in the AM it was determined that they needed to perform an emergency c-section in order to save both of their lives. It was surreal and nothing can prepare you for this situation. Marni was only 27 weeks (out of 40). Before I knew it they had her open and pulled out the tiniest little girl (1 pound 12 oz). It was amamzing wathing the doctors go to work stabilizing Emma (her name).
Marni is still recovering. Emma is off the respirator but has to stay in NICU for about 2 months. All in all, we were told by several nurses and doctors that it was a miracle that we have a viable daughter and that my wife will likely have a full recovery (she had some damage to her brain from the siezure).
If anything this drives home the point that God is in charge and we have angels doing some serious work out there.
Thought I would share.

Marni should be home from hospital sometime next week. I think my wheeling in 2003 will be VERY limited.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Marni, Emma and you Sean.
I have learned that the Jeep comunity is a awesome force when they give their thoughts and prayers to those in need. Keep the faith that everything will turn out for the best.
I pray the our kids will be able to meet and play together at some future event some years down the road.

thanks so much for your prayers and support. We truly lived a miracle this week in that Marni and Emma survived. Emma has been off the vent for 48 hours which is incredible for a 27 week preemie. Marni still has high blood pressure, but this should resolve this week.
the support of my jeep friends, the locals and my virtual ones, has been really helpful.
And, Scott, I am still sending prayers towards Cincinnati for little Sean. Hopefully we call all wheel in Utah in a couple of years and trade stories and happy tears about the stuggles we have gone thru.
best,
SeanP

WOW! I just got home and read your post Sean. With what has happend, you can dedfinitely testify that there is someone watching over us. Shelly and I send our Love and prayers to your two sweet angels, Marni and Emma, and also to you Sean. I am sure that as Marni laid there, what helped her hang on was knowing that your love and strength would arrive to help her and the baby. Not one day has gone by that I have not been impressed by the people in NAXJA. This club has got to have the best people in the world in it. Everyone I have met in this club show the strongest I have seen in the Love, kindness, and desire to help one another.
Our Love and Prayers,

Update:
Marni's blood pressure is under contol. I am not sure if it is the cocktail of drugs or her body just healing itself. She should be released on Sunday or Monday.
Emma is groing strong. She gained an once each of the last 4 days. She should hit two pounds by the end of the week.
I found the wonders of Zanax, it helped me to finally sleep last night. Now I just want my family home and my welder hooked up so I can releive some stress.
Thanks for the continued prayers.

Sean, Holy crap- I was just browsing the boards and saw this.
I wish Marni and Emma a trouble free recovery, and I'm glad to see you have gotten a little sleep at least.
Welding has been a great stress release for me at some inopportune times also, nothing like what you have been going through though.
Best wishes,

Sean and family,
Its been a while since I have checked in on everybody at NAXJA. I guess this is why I should keep better tabs on what is going on. Your situation hits very close to home for me. I and my wife are also pregnant and as a to be dad it seems from the time of conception the helpless worrying starts, but I don't know if it ever ends. I guess that shows how much love you can have for a baby not yet born and the mother who carries your child. We are at about 28wks now. My wife Sephanie and I both wish Marni and Emma the very best. And of course I wouldn't act as if I know your situation and what your family is going through, but I do know it is a tough and helpless feeling out here as a father in your case and a father to be in mine. I hope to here from you. I know it has been said already by many great people here at NAXJA, but if there is anything I mean anything we can do please call (916)416-3037.
Wishing You, Marni, and Emma the very best
Byron, Stephanie, and Sawyer
