Antilock Brake Codes

I have a 1992 XJ Limited with antilock brakes. The anti lock brake lamp is illuminated. How do I display the codes without the DRB-II reader?

Can the codes be read with a reader from Kragen/Autozone/Napa?

My brakes work fine; although it appears that I no longer have ABS - I skid in the rain.
