depends on the bolt pattern of the 8.8. if its 5 on 5.5, then yep, you need an adapter/spacer for the rear or the front to make em match. what's the 8.8 out of?
If it's from the Explorer family it's going to be the same 5 on 4.5" as the XJ uses, but there is still a decent amount of fabrication needed to get the 8.8 into the Jeep. Once it's in though, it's definitely an upgrade over the D35. How much of an upgrade depends what it came out of...
