I need just a quick "headcount" so I can get an idea as to how many folks to expect on the Lost Coast run. So, please post below :)
Lets plan on meeting in Garberville on Sunday May 25th at 8:30 AM. for an initial meet 'n greet, and an overview of the days events. If you are traveling north, take the first Garberville exit. Just park across the street from the Waterwheel restaurant, in front the vacant lot, along the street. The restaurant will be on your left (parking on your right), just as you get off the offramp. If people want to grab a bite to eat, get there a little bit earlier. The Waterwheel has some good home style cooking! Be sure to pack water and other munchies for along the trail. Bring a lunch to munch on when we arrive at Usal beach.
There was talk earlier about meeting for dinner the night before in Eureka, but it's a good 90 miles or so from where most people will be camping/staying. Unless you have some strong desire to see Eureka, the drive back and forth will be a long one. I will not be available for dinner the night before due to a previous commitment. You folks can decide what you want to do.
The weather is looking good and things are starting to dry up a bit. We could still encounter some mud sections along the way, but they should be manageable even for stock XJ's.
Please post any other questions you may have... see you all on May 25th!

I know it’s kinda last minute but my planes now allow me to go. It looks like I’m going by my self though so dose anyone have room in there camp sight for another jeep and a small tent. I’d be happy to foot the bill for the sight.
I am 90% sure that I am going with my wife and my 1 year old son. Got room Chuck?

We have decided we are camping and so we all may need to sqeeze real tight together. At least it sounds like a good turnout.

We can all squeeze in, the rules of the campground were two vehicles per site. Anyone of us can park our rig somewhere near the campground, I guess.
Rob & Zion, what day are you leaving?

The trail run ends on Hwy 1, between Leggett (where Hwy 1 junctions with Hwy 101) and Fort Bragg. You can continue down Hwy 1 towards Fort Bragg and cut over to Hwy 20 to junction in on Hwy 101 just north of Ukiah. Give yourself a little over an hour to reach Hwy 101 (Ukiah). Once you hit Hwy 101, it's about an hour to Santa Rosa from Ukiah. You can gauge your time from there, back to the bay area.

Hay Chuck (or anyone else)my plan is to leave Cameron Park from work at 5 on Friday so I’ll be up there Friday night. I was planning on just exploring on my own Saturday and then meeting up for the run on Sunday but if you or others will but up there, maybe we could plan something for Saturday and/or Monday. I’ve never been up there but just by looking at the map it looks like there is no shortage of good stuff in the area.

I haven’t been up there at all so… but anyway it looks like there are a few interesting trails/roads north of that Shelter Cove Rd we could check out, Kings Peak, Ettersburg honeydew etc. it looks like you could make a loop out of it.

If you do go wheeling on your own, please stay on the main trails, roads, etc. Respect locked gates and no trespassing signs. If you do park, don't wander off too far from the main trail. Remember, this is southern Humboldt, and there are a number of rather well fortified, armed, and boobie trapped; pot farms in that area. I'd hate to see you on Sunday with real bullet holes (not the stick on kind), on your rigs.... ;)

Darn, I had fun last year and this sound even more fun with the BBQ potluck. Can't make it this year 3rd Daughter graduates HS Saturday.
SF Jack, I figured I'd have to leave SF at 0430 Sunday to get to Garberville by 0830. It's over 200 miles. HWY 101 is a good four lane divided except for a small stretch between Cloverdale and Ukiah (about 25 miles through Hopland) again just past Willits and the last 30 miles north of Standish Hickey campground to Garberville. Last year stayed at a dive motel the night before and drove home the afternoon after reaching HWY 1 north of Fort Bragg.
Everyone have fun and be safe.

If I didn't bend my drag link all up I would totally be down to go. I live in Santa Rosa so its close to enough to wheel at. Maybe next time I'll go with you all.
Hope you guys have fun!
Happy trails.
We are going to bring a Salad and a Watermelon. I don't have a bbq to bring but I got fire wood ;)
Neil, When will you be coming through Modesto? We will probably leave around 9:00 which translates into 10:00 ;)

Anybody got room at a camp site? Got my Jeep fixed and can't find any place to stay any where near Eureka.
Neil,
Chuck and I are staying at Standish-Hickey near the town of Leggett (IIRC). Eureka is quite a ways away. Might want to look for something close to Garberville since that is where we are meeting Sunday. The other day when I was looking at the topo map, there was quite a few campsites in that area and around Leggett.
