Black round ball behind front bumper on a 99

What is this and is it necessary. I broke both ears off of it and would prefer to ditch it but i dont know what the hell it is. Thankx

It is a vacuum reservoir. Don't ditch it. You can re route the hose and install behind the front cross member right behind the front bumper. Use some long zip ties. Mine is right in front of the alternator. Nice out of the way place for it.

But it is a must to have some place, where ever you can find a place for it will work.

Before relocating it, check carefully where the feet broke off to be sure that there aren't now holes. When one of mine broke it left little pinholes.

You can also relocate it inside the engine compartment, especially if it's the small round type (others are larger and oval). On my 95 it's a little above the oil filter (mine still has a foot to screw in with). On the older Renix 4.0's it tucks pretty well under the coolant tank.
