Dana 35 question

I hope this isn't too stupid of a question but here it is. I just did a swap of a dana 44 with 3.54 gears into my xj to replace a dana 35 (c-clip) with 3.07 gears. I need to get the donor xj running and I have another half assembled non c-clip dana 35 with 3.54 gears that I want to put in the donor.

I need one shaft to basically make this axle complete. My question is can I put a c-clip shaft in the non c-clip axle axle since I have two c-clip shafts or am I just going to need to pull a non c-clip shaft from the junkyard and use that.

c-clip & non-c-clip shafts are not interchangeable.
