rear end

i have a 97 xj 4.0l speed with a 3.07 gears. but i was wondering what type of rear end it is. a crysler 8.25 0r dana or what
also which is stronger.

I think it would be the Chrysler 8.25. One tell-tale sign is that the 8.25 is flat on the bottom when viewed standing behind the vehicle. The Dana 35 is round on the bottom and has on overall oval shape. There should be a tag on it identifying it. I believe the 35 has a 7-9/16 inch ring gear while the 8.25 is obviously 8.25.

Do you have ABS? If so, It's a D35.
