hey all...i was just curious to see how many of yall had systems installed in your rig. I know alof of you don't like to sacrifice the bed space so you've put the subs in the cubbys on the walls....
does anyone have boxes? or a "larger than normal" system??
if so....lets see some pictures and specs of your system!
here's pics of mine:

what you see here:
VISONIK system with 12" subs and red neon; 1400 watt, 2-channel Amplifier, bridged; Kole Audio 1.5 Farad Capacitor; 4 gauge ground and power wire; triple sheilded, gold plated RCA cables.

future additions:
Kenwood 7" fully motorized in-dash touch screen TV head unit; 2 VISONIK flush mount 300watt amps to push components (set in the floors at rear sets, behind front seats--NOT under bench); optima yellow-top battery

big question, how much did that cost!?!?!?!?
for me.....about $530 for everything i have in right now *grins*
for most other people....i did a bunch of research and got actual prices on all the stuff i've got and it all added up to about $1300...
mine is all brand new, from dealers....

with bass test on and gain on amp at halfway i can blow a lighter out in the front seat...
and amazingly...hear almost nothing outside of the jeep.

what you got??

I have a 12" Audiobahn Ultra Excursion subwoofer, 1000w rms, 2 channel profile amp, 900x1 at 4 ohms for the sub, 5 1/4" infinity reference speakers, Alpine head unit (cheap), 1 farad lightning audio cap, ive got a spare 4 ch 450 watt amp that I'll be using after I get a new head unit and a set of tweets. The sub is pretty loud but id rather have some better quality out of it.

wow.......neon  any pics of the lowering kit? or the 20" chrome rims :passgas:

I just finished setting this system up. It's way too powerful for my taste. I'm hoping to sell it soon, as soon as I wow the kids at church. If anyone reading this is interested, shoot me a PM. The amp has blue neon lights that illuminate when the amp is on, so at night the entire back of the heep has a very distict blue glow that can be seen outside. These are two brand spankin' new Sony Xplod 12" subs with a brand spankin' new Blitz 2 channel 1000 watt amp. The whole box only sticks out about 5" from the back of the seat because of the angle of the back of the box.

What i got....
-Chitty Sony deck... waiting for an excuse to get a deck that doesnt suck
-Infinity Kappa 6 1/2" components (6 1/2" mid woofer and 1" tweet) installed in custom kick panels powered by a Fosgate amp
-Pioneer 6x9's in the rear deck powered by a Fosgate amp
-Pair of 12" Fosgate subs in a sealed box powered by a legacy amp

What I like:
-Components installed in custom kick panels gives great sound...
-Kappa an pioneer mids cant be beat
-Fosgate amp gives great sound
-Sealed sub box is the only way to live... ported and especially bandpass boxes give innacurrate sound

What i dont like:
-Deck sucks... period.
-Kappa tweets are a bit harsh... next time will go with a silk dome tweeter
-Legacy amp... need i say more?? although, this amp has surpassed my expectations thus far.

Best thing is - it aint in my jeep. My junk is way too trashy to ride with a stylin sound system. That, and when I flop I dont have a sub box flying at my head.

I'm running an alpine infinities 1 400w mono pushing 2 10's fosgates. While i get good base, they srill don't hit the way I want. I'm trying to ditch it all for 600 bucks. and get a new HU and 1 12 JL.

that looks great for mall crawling :dunno:

Wow you guys actually bump that when you are wheeling?......do you guys wheel? Systems are impressive so dont get me wrong, but shiaaaaat your supposed to overkill the rigs wheeling performance dont you think? :D

All I have is a simple pioneer flip face and fosgate speakers that replace my factory's a simple 200watt amp to push them and a meer simple 10" kenwood bazooka fo da bass........I like sounds like most people, but I guess I just need to hear it :D ........the rest of my cash went into my wheeling mods. Great thing about my bazooka is when I go wheeling "I" only have to use one hand and remove it from the back :D Thats if I run outa cargo room :D

I used to have two 800 watt Audiobahns sitting in the back of my jeep with a 1600 watt pyramid amp strapped to the back seat. I enjoyed the ghetto thumping a whole lot till it was stolen. Not really that bad though, cuz I set the whole thing up for $200 including the installation. I didn't have the thing properly screwed down, or even an alarm on my jeep at the time, so I was just asking for it.

I have a JVC head unit, Kenwood speakers in the doors, a 200 watt Kenwood amp and a pair of 10" Punch subs that I stole from my little brother. :D
Not Jeep tech, but we just finally got all the stuff together for his WRX. He has a Pioneer CD/DVD/Nav. head unit seen here,
that we have already installed. When it's done, he will have Kenwood Excelon speakers in all 4 corners powered by a 750 watt 4 channel Alpine V12 amp and an Audiobahn AW1206T driven by a 1000 watt mono Alpine V12 amp through a pair of 1 ferad caps. We are going to wire this up with 1/0 Monstercable from the Batt. to a dist. block and 4 ga from there to the amps. He about had a hernia when I told him what kind of wiring he needed and itended up costing him $400.

haha....not lowering...actually lifting 4.5 with long arms this coming weekend....and i HAVE been thinking about a second set of wheels with 22"s just for kicks...hehe...
this particular rig of mine isn't being set up for wheeling...more show....since A- its 2WD B- no rocks or good mud/trail areas in Florida C- because i want to...lol

i barely ever have this turned up all the way...sometimes just to annoy old ladys that forgot how to drive...or to make all the kids stare in awe....i've got a remote gain control knob up front so i can turn it up or down real quick whenever needed.....
i've got Double layered Platinum Lemo tinting on the back three windows (single layer of mirrored 20% with a layer of 5% limo on that) so yea...you can't see in it at all....and got a Viper 790 alarm on it (mostly at least...still getting a few extras installed)

and if my jeep flipped for some reason it wouldn't go anywhere....the box is wide enough it wedges in reeaaaal tight between the wheel well and the spare....it don't go anywhere.....

music is pretty much my biggest passion in life....so stereo was the first thing that had to be done on my jeep.....i don't usually listen to any rap or music with lots of big bass.....but i wanted a stereo that could handle anything i might throw at it....
and it sounds amazing.....
i've got 6x9s in the rear hatch....5 1/4 in all four doors......3" in the dash, and working on kick pannels with 6" midrange and 1.5" tweets
all work (design, build, & install) is all done by me...no one does anything to my jeep but me....*grins*

I have an 18" treo pushed by a 1200watt jbl with a panasonic touch screen deck. it kills my cargo room, so i took out my rear seat and wah la(no idea how to spell that) i have room again. and i will the crap out of my jeep, usually dont listen to it while wheeling though

i appreciate it, not only could i not spell it, i was not even thinking of the right way so say it

Just my opinion... ported boxes give a different sound... I think that sound isn't nearly as responsive or accurate. Perhaps i haven't heard a "properly setup" ported sub system....

No. The boxes in the back of my Jeep are not fully enclosed... yet. This install is a process that is going to take me a few weeks to finish. Right now it is in its early stages. Later I will be bondo'ing parts of the original plastic to the box and will be adding some silicon seal around the edges to finish it off. When I am finished it will be completely sealed.

As a bass player, I can tell you from personal experience that a well-tuned ported cabinet produces far superior sound to a fully enclosed cabinet. The principle is the same when it comes to car audio. Lots of times installers put the speakers that the customer chooses into the box that the customer chooses attempting to satisfy customer response and totally ignoring the fact that a proper ported setup is tuned specifically to the speaker application. I once changed out a blown 18" woofer from one of my ported bass cabinets, and the new one I installed sounded like crap. When i took it to an audio specialist, he pointed out that the cabinet had to be retuned to match the new speaker. After he did it, the difference was unbelievable. It was just a matter of tuning the cabinet to the speaker.
