Rear end oil change

I'm changing the oil in my 87 XJs rear end this weekend. I have the D35 rear. Besides the oil is there any additive I need to add? I have seen references to a limited slip additive. What is that for and do I need that?

You need limited slip additive (friction modifier) if you have a limited slip differential. If not -- 75W90 or 75W140 gear oil is all you need.

How do I tell if I have a limited slip differential? My XJ is stock with 2.5L, 4-speed manual and 4:10 gears.

You have a 4sp tranny? My 2.5L came with a 5 speed stock.

Yeah, I bought it from the original owner so I know whats been, or hasn't been done to it. The only option that came on it was the radio.
