My starter came lose so far that it wouldn’t start the engine.:sure: It was hanging on by the bottom bolt and the top one was gone. I assume that there is a top bolt and not a dowel pin or something. It looks like it goes in from the other direction. Can anyone tell me what the size and pitch of the top bolt is? Is it the same as the bottom one?

It should be the same (they were on my '98). To test, why not take the bottom bolt and see if it fits where the top one should go...

been a while, but it seems like on my '90, they were a different length by about 1/2", same diameter and thread.

While Searching I found this thread as well as further info,

Try 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" and M10-1.25 x 30m/m. I think those are what I'd gotten - you'll want one of each.
