99 xj fan

i have a 99' cherokee that has two fans, one of them runs all the time i think and the other one goes on and off peroidically. my question is is this the way it is supposed to work or do i have a worn oout thermostat or something, maybe im just paranoid, thanks

If you will look more closely, one of them is a mechanical fan attached to the engine through a viscous coupling. As long as the engine is running this fan will be turning. The other will come on as conditions for add'l cooling are required.
