I was wondering if a Transfer Case Drop would be enough to reduce Damaging Vibes on a 4-4.5" lift. Also how hard are they to install? I dont wanna invest in a SYE and the lift will be 3" Coils with SPacers and Dakota Springs with Blocks. Also, how hard is it to extend brake lines?

I am running a 1" t-case drop with about 7" of lift. I put a yj slip yoke on and set the angles as close as I could. It has no vibes that I can feel but, I think having an ax-15 helps because I have a longer driveshaft. I don't know how good this setup is long term, but I am running it because I don't want to sink a lot of money into the t-case because I am going to replace it with either a dana 300 or np205.

I have an '88 Cherokee, running a 4.5" lift in the rear. I have 3 degree axle shims and a 1" transfer case drop. I did not have any vibes to begin with, but to get the angles correct I put the 1" drop in.

I have an 87 242TC D44 rear with 4.5" lift. Stock driveshaft, no sye, no longer yolk, no shims, no tc drop. No vibes. Driveshaft does pull out enough under very hard braking that the yolk come out far enough to grind. I don't have front lift on yet and I think this will take care of the big front nosedive when braking. However angles aren't perfect and I might to a tc drop later to prolong the life of the u-joints... Thats my setup and it seems to work ok. Others will probably tell you to get an SYE.

Its still a "band-aid" fix not to mention all the bad side affects like - loss of ground clearance(with the exception of the "maintained clearance crossmembers") right at the worst spot(right after you put so much into it getting it lifted),bind on the motor mounts, possible fan contact when flexed, worse front driveshaft angles! The "not mentioned" benifits of an SYE kit for "any" XJ would be-Driveshaft length/Joint angles(higher operating ranges)less wear on everything, eliminating most broken shaft issues!
