Some A$$Hole in all his glory thought it would be a good idea to break into my Xj last night and rip out my $130 dollar deck. If he wanted it that bad all he would have to have done is ask for it i would have given it to him its going to cost more money to replace the broken window and plus all the other part he broke when he ripped out the deck.
I'm not even sure why they took my deck it was nothing great about it.

Although I'd say this belongs in Non-Tech...

They don't need a reason and the damage they do in excess of the cost of the deck usually exceeds the deck. My brother in law had a high end blankunput in his BMW, parked at newark airport for 30 min to pick up a co worker, when he came back out it had been surgically removed, all bolts and screws were left in the ash tray and the thief locked the beemer back up too.
He replaced it with a cheapie, airport again 3 weeks later, quick pickup right near the door too, he was gone 15 min. That thief broke the driver side window, pried the deck out and left the beemer trashed, did over $2k damage to the dashboard for a $200 deck. It was either the same thief that was ****ed off that he replaced it with a junk radio or some druggie...
Club I worked at we caught 2 guys going thru the parking lot boosting radios, we called the cops an hour AFTER we got done with them. Wouldn't have been so bad but several of the vehicles belonged to the doormen and the club manager...

It sucks, I feel your pain. My XJ got broken into twice within 6 months. The first time they did $2500 damage to get a $250 stereo, the second time they didn't actually get in but they bent my passenger side door around the lock and trashed the lock. I havent gotten that fixed yet so I'm not sure on the damage of the second hit. The thing that I dont get about the second hit is that I had the face off my CD player and I dont have a system other than my CD player. I think maybe theyd cased it before and stopped when they saw the face was off.

What's too think about? Prisons are full of stupid people, it's just a matter of time before they are caught.....or dead....or both.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

That's why I leave my doors unlocked... they're gonna git into it someway... i'd rather lose the decxk than the windows and the deck.....

Here's a thought ... roll all four windows down, lock the doors and set the alarm. When they open the door ... BOOM.

Lured them in for the KILL ...

I don't understand the criminal mindset. Someone stole my marker lights earlier this week. It makes no sense to me that they would steel $5.00 worth of plastic but they did. They could of least put the screws back in since those were the only ones that were still able to hold the plastic housing on. :dunno:

That sucks. I've only lost one stereo, but it was the most expensive one I've owned. They also took my entire music collection, my booster cables, and my backpack to carry it all in. This was taken from my MJ as it sat overnight on the side of the road with the whole front end smashed in after I hit a power pole. I was going to sell the stereo for money to fix it, but when I came back to get it in the morning the deck was gone. As an added bonus whoever did it left 2 empty beer bottles on the passenger's seat so anyone looking in figured I was drunk. I wasn't. I was just stupid enough to be driving in a snow storm in a 2wd MJ with nearly bald 10" wide rear tires. I would've drove it home that night if the entire header panel hadn't flown off taking the lights with it (11pm). Since I was unemployed at the time I wound up selling the MJ to buy another vehicle becuase I didn't have the money to fix it.
Tony
BTW I actually only paid $29 for the stereo at the junkyard during an "all car stereos $29" sale. Took it to the stereo shop and found out it was that years top of the line panasonic deck. It would have more than payed for a new header panel and bumper and fender (I think I could've beat the hood out flat enough to be useable).

Sorry to hear about your lose. I think that is why I haven't installed a stereo system in my jeep. I am going to wait until I have a car as a DD so I don't have to worry about my rig getting ripped off.

Some dickweed broke into my truck through the wing window (most expensive piece of glass on the truck) and took the FAWKING ASHTRAY!!! And not the whole thing, but just the insert you pull out to empty. It was full of change, but the wierd thing is.... they dumped the change out onto the floor of the truck (10-15 bucks). WTF????

btw.....the doors were not locked.

Recently saw a couple of guys, looking in parked cars, strange faces I´ve never seen before. Said rather loud, you ain´t lost nothing here, why don´t you take the F off. They decided to get billigerant, came walking over, I just walked the other direction, dumb arses followed me up the driveway, all the way to the gate, just in time to meet my dogs coming out of the gate. Great theatre for a few minutes. After they got through with the bombast and the threats, I informed them I shoot prowlers. Too old to put up with the testoserone crap anymore, I´ll take it just as far as they want to pursue it. Word gets around after awhile.

Elect judges who don't just look the other way when theives are brought in. And don't vote down more prisons, so they gotta let the 'non-violent' loose, or let 'em go on bail... We had a series of 'gang initiation' punks who'd break the glass on unlocked doors..do 1500 bucks worth of damage to a dash for a 50 dollar stereo they'd sell for 15 dollars. Cops are people..get to know the local ones..let 'em know you're concerned about the problem.. don't put up with arrogant ones, but let 'em know you give a shi! if they catch these people.
And yep..anyone that violates your personal space, DESERVES what they get..but if you give it to 'em..I'd rather ya didn't..good jeepers don't belong in jail, but on the trail.

Last week somebody broke my rear wing window (2-door) trying to get in, then figured out that was the wrong one, so they broke my door wing, then stole my 10-year old CD player. Luckily they didn't screw up the dash or take the entire Jeep. A nice steel plate now sits where the stereo once was. I might put in a stock AM/FM stereo that I have, but no way I'm going to spend money putting a new stereo in, it's just not worth it.

Some fooking jacka$$ broke the drivers side window in my ram( yeah i don't have a jeep, yet). Then stole my $10 crapsman flashlight(p.o.s) and a $10 pair of sunglasses. Didn't take my leatherman that was right next to the sunglasses( probably to dumb to figure out how to work it). Left my CD's, 2 tow straps, chain, hooks, tools, change in the ashtray. I would have given them the flashlight and sunglasses for the price of the freaking window. $200 bucks!! F.R.B.!

I tried the cops, I tried the school principle (on another but related subject), I tried alarms. Report them, they usually find out (or figure out) who did the reported. Sleep lite anyway, sleep with one eye open when I figure me or the family is threatened. Gonna loose some sleep anyway, probably have your routine up ended, might as well get the problem settled. Better to pick your time and your place or turn the tables and take the iniative. Nieghborhood watch works.
A few things that have worked for me, turn the dogs loose, tatoo some guys forehead with a 12 qauge, walk up and flip (throw) a rifle round, right between his eyes. I´ve gotten to know the local gangs, talked with the boss, we came to an understanding. Independants you usually have to deal with yourself. If it gets to the point, be creative, a brick out of a second story window works well, no fingureprints.
Trying to ignore it, trying to get someone else to deal with it, running from it, are all tactics that rarley work. And like has been mentioned, real expensive. Most insurance has a deductable, is it worth $500 to brick some sucker, you bet.

Sux that happened, but you still have your ride.......here in Detroit they get into your ride, TAKE IT, trash it, take what is valuable, then crash it........this is of course is if it doesnt get stripped for parts :D

I have had too many stereo's stolen to count. one time they broke the window, opened the hood and removed the bolt that held the battery cable on (so the alarm would shut off). they took said bolt and threw it.... great, broken window, no stereo, no cd's, and a truck that wont start. I had to get it towed. I have given up on stereos, its stock or nothing. Now I like to laugh at the guys with the huge stereo's, alarms, and stickers announcing it. Its only a glass window and a couple wires keeping it in there. I rather have the most expensive thing on the truck to be alot harder to take...
oh, and I hope that these theives know that Karma is a biatch!

Just a note, came out to my XJ one morning (going hunting) 2 in the morning. Heard someone running (can hear really good early in the morning), smelled battery acid, strong. Looked under the XJ and found the suckers had punched a hole in my battery, from the bottom. One way to disarm an alarm.
A half a year later, heard a diesel motor idleing early, went out to take a look and found some sucker trying to hook up his tow truck to my ride. XJ´s paid for, wasn´t parked in a no stopping zone. Tore the guys license plate off as evidence. His story was he had gotten the address wrong.
