posi-lock?

Hey! I'm a newbie and I was wondering; what the hell is a posi-lock system and why would I need one ? Thanks guys...

a posi-lock is a Limited Slip Differential for the axle. it helps to limit wheel spin. When one wheel starts to spin, it will send power to the other wheel to help you get out. Go with a locker in the rear, limited slip in the front.

How does a posi-trak in Plymouth barracuda work? I dont know, it just does.....

Or...are you refering to the Posi-Loc that is used to replace the vacuum motor that locks the passenger side axles together in early XJs? If this is what you are refering to the idea is to dump the vacuum motor and use a more positive engagment method.
