Heres a pic of the New Hanson I just got. It isnt on yet, still working on other front end stuff.
Looks way cool with the vents underneath, and it will flow a little more air into the grill (I hope)
Found a guy to powdercoat it for $40!
fairlead mount going on it too. Im a little excited, I have been running the stock bumper with 3/8" steel plate behind it which bolts up to factory mounts. Although it is super strong, its like the last stock item on my XJ. Its for sale too if anyone wants it. Also a Chrome Pushbar with light tabs. U Can see some pics on my Profile.

Ordered it May 2nd got it may 8th :) Not bad at all
He told me three to four weeks initially.
Bumper as picturedwithout failread was $640. Shipping was 70 I think.
Now that I look, I have my Aux Tranny coolerbelow the radiator, and those "vents" will flow right over it! Now I have to find a place to mount my Old school KC daylighters.

Sweet bumper...I am envious, big-time.
I also hear Infinite Inc made a really nice winch-bumper of similar design...but they appear to be on strike at the moment. (something about increasing their daily ration of Stout?)

Wayne Mentioned something about a batch of Durango Bumpers.
Not sure what that means, But Crawltech.com is selling Hanson Bumpers under "rubicon" name.
Cant find any info on Infinite Inc , U have a link maybe ?

Infinite Inc made the bumper for the Giveaway XJ. I don't think they have a portal into cyberspace yet.
Maybe someday these will be offered to the unwashed masses.

Try Bulletproof or Trailready if you want steeker shock.
there setups go for $1000.
This bumper will be the best looking thing on my Jeep, Except for me of course :)

A home brewed bumper is like drinking home brewed beer---I'll stick to my Heineken. I'd also pay $640 for a Hanson.... best looking design (and those tasty welds....yummy!) I've seen to date for an XJ.
What's the % alcolhol... oh I mean weight? Any fender sheet metal triming necessary for an early model XJ? or does it clear the fenders?
Post pics after it's installed!.... cheers to ya!

That does look sweet. I saw a hansen without the pre-runner bars on a silver 2002 that really complimented the XJs lines. I don't remember the vents at the bottom though.... ya think that will affect approach angle at all?
Interesting...
Wasn't 2001 the last production year for the XJ? Do you mean a 2001?

Well, not sure how interesting it is, but I'm sure you're correct.... Then it was probably an '01... but I found a pic of the jeep. I think it was an aniversary addition what ever year that was.

Thats over $2000 worth of Orthodontics for the 15yr old Jeep :D
Hanson $700 shipped
Be cool custom radiator $650
PIAA lights $150
B&M supercooler $90
Warn 8000 $600
Perma-Cool fram cooler $35
The bumper is remarkably light. My old setup was much heavier
My winch solenoid is under the hood and you can kinda see the remote arm plugin at the way right top.
Should be driving the yard bird in about a week if I can make the steering and solid Motor/Trans Mounts work

May 13th, 2003, 17:10
yep, that's sweet. I just realized (I knew something was missing in other photos without a winch mounted up) there's no accomodation for a fairlead in their design.... just shoot the string straight off the roll.

There is a fairlead mount. It mounts underneath the winch bolt pattern and fits rather nice

In the new 4Wheel Drive Hardware catalog I just received, there is a picture of a yellow 2dr XJ illustrating the BW flares. As far as I can tell, mounted up front is by far the best looking XJ bumper I have yet seen. It is angled for good departure and has winch provisions, as well as recessed round fog lights and, but what really got my interest (as far as looks), is it has the beveled top edge that mimics the contours of the original bumper and the XJs side panels, that way the bumper really looks like a factory piece. Hanson does this with his rear bumper but has not done it with the front. Years ago when I spoke to him I suggested he do that treatment to the front as well, he said it would be quite a bit more labor but he agreed it would look better, he was going to custom make me one, but then Warrior became a street vehicle and I cancelled that bumper.
I dont know who makes the bumper I speak of, maybe someone knows, maybe Ill contact 4WD Hardware.

I think mebbe trailready does. They are the only ones I know who do flushed fogs

Scratch that, confirmend my suspicions, the bumper is a Trail Ready unit, the recessed lighting gave it away.
