Pinion angle?

Can you measure pinion angle off the yoke with an angle finder or is it better to use the diff cover bolts? What is the most that you would want the pinion pointing up? IIRC isn't about 12-15 degrees the max before you may run into pinion bearing oiling issues? I have the AA sye and have my pinion pointing about 15 degrees up (according to my HF angle finder). I measured it off the pinion yoke. It is not pointing exactly at the t-case but is close. But before I rotate it more I just wanted to see what others have to say. Thanks.

I think you need to measure the angle in relation to your driveshaft, not worry about what the angle is between the pinion and the ground. With a CV driveshaft, ideally you want the pinion to be 1-3* lower than parallel with the driveshaft.
