the last couple of times ive been down at disney, ive noticed how many rigs are down there with VERY functional 1 link style suspenions. some using a trailer ball for a joint, and some using huge flex joints. some running track bars, and i even saw one that had two more links to triangulate it. im thinking about building this type of suspension under my cherokee in the future, and getting ready to start this kind of suspension on a willys fc-170 pickup in about a week. questions are, does anyone run this type of suspension under an xj? and what would be aceptable thickness of rect. or square tube to build the one link arm out of?

Ive seen it done, not to a xj, but like gsequoia said , the older cars. I dont know if you would want to DD it, but if its a trailer queen, why not!?

if you build it nice and beefy, and get your anti-squat under control, it would be a great system. I really like the driveshaft protection. It seems like the anti-squat is the real challenge since it functions as a radius arm.

beez, a "one link" is a wishbone that is mounted solid to the axle, with a panhard or other means of locating it laterally.

here is a good example: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=255620

there has been lots of talk on Pirate, be sure to search lots there. It seems like the accepted tube size is 2x2 .25 wall square.
