Gas tank skid problems??

Has anyone ever had or heard of any problems related to the gas skids that have the solid sides to them, vs. the one's that don't have sides.

Heard that sometimes the solid ones can collect debris and eventually rub w/ the tank and cause leaks??

Only problem I had was collecting an extra 40 pounds of dirt.
I will be opening up the drain holes to at least one inch on my next one.

The gas tank skids with the sides usually mount to the frame rails/unibody, which is much stronger than the skids that bolt to the rear crossmember and the front gas tank hanger bolts. Yes, the ones with sides are usually more difficult to clean out debris, so you just need to find a skid with plenty of drain holes and are easy to clean out with a hose.
