engine

seran wrap and a whole lotta duct tape.

For the most part it isn't going to happen. Water on the plugs and wires and unless you have a really good set, it isn't going to fire. Cold water on hot block equals trouble. Water in TPS = problems. Duct tape on distributor helps. One small leak in a vehicle with a snorkel spells new engine.

Screw the engine thing, just try and get XJ doors to seal up. Don't even bother to ask how I know that one.

i am wondering what would i need to do to fully waterproof my engine

Buy a vehicle with a diesel engine (no ignition system), build a snorkel for the air intake, and make sure it's properly sealed.

Check out Mark from "Sons of Thunder" Jeep club. They have a safari group which have done this to a few XJs and MJs. They have also been in a few Mags.
