Air bag!

My 1996 has an air bag the steering wheel- has anyone ever had one blowup on them while wheeling?
Can I disconnect it easily?
Should I reconnect it for the highway?
What do ya think?????

It's not a problem while wheeling unless you run head on into something at an excessive speed. In which case you want it to deploy. I had 2 rear enders where I was at fault during a time when I wasn't at my best due to an undiagnosed medical problem. Both times at about 25 MPH and the air bag didn't deploy. Yes it was and is in working order. So I wouldn't worry about it.

I think the 96, like the 95, is a mechanically actuated one anyway, and there's no convenient way to disconnect it without removing it.
