You need to look at a online parts site like rockauto.com and see if the same PN is used for both years. There is a difference Pre-91 suspension and the 91-01 front suspensions. I found this out when looking at shocks, something changed in 1991.

Rock Auto shows two different numbers so two different parts.

I've been running a late-model track bar in my '88 for about 3 or 4 years. Yes, the newer one will bolt in. The length is lust slightly different and you will have to re-center the steering wheel, but the difference is so small that if you put them side-by-side it's difficult to see what the difference is.
