I've been seeing quiet a few nicely done xj's lately. Just wanted to see if anyone around indy would like to have some sort of a meet and greet and maybe a trail run. Just recently got some tow points, so I'm itching to do some harder runs.
Also, has anyone run the trails at Dugger just south of Terre Haute?

Come on guys. I know there are more people around indy than just a couple.

Muddin have you even ran the short trail down in brown county. It's just past the very small town of Story. I've done half of it myself, and have ridden through all of it one other time. It isn't anything special, but it's good for a nearby place to spend an afternoon.

Most of the guys in Indiana do not run the generators that power thier homes full time. Give them a few days to fire-up the old buggers and get on-line over that new fangled telephone thing and I am sure you will get replies. It may take longer because Wednesday is the weekly "Bark Boil" at the town square.

got my old generator fired up here...

that trail in Brown County is my playground, called Combs Road. It's a good time, you just have to try a little harder to have fun (do stupid stuff). I've been running it since I was stock, and I still like to go out there (fully locked w/33's).

Anyway...I'd be glad to host a mini-run there in Brown County sometime...

Come on guys.

Indy is a big town, there is no reason y'all cant have a get together every other month or so.

But you really need to turn those names RED!

Just got back from the "bark boil," had a good Ol' time!

I live 45 mins Northwest of Indy in Westpoint. I went down to Redbird(Dugger) a few months ago, the place is pretty fun, plenty of mud and some pretty knarly trails as well. I'd be down for some greetin and wheelin sometime, but only if I can bring my banjo!

Dang ... now all we need is a jug, guitar, and wash-tub bass, and we can have a real good time! I'll bring the bales of straw!

Hey ... Indiana Boys ... don't worry about those :conceited Illinois Suckers ... they spend way too much time glorifying themselves by spewing BS. Just let them wallow in their "sophistication" ... :D

A Redbird Run in the near future sounds good. This would be a good way to introduce some of the non-members to NAXJA.

Yeah I know. The money for the membership isn't the problem. It's convincing the wifey that it would be worth while. I think I ought to send in the money and just don't tell her. ;)
A mini-run down on combs rd in brown county would be great, and so would a run to Redbird. I'm new to wheelin', so any experience for me will be a great one. I'm ready to learn the ropes from the best. :)
Anyways, how does a meet 'n greet and trial run in the middle or end of September sound?

Well Fuel90 ... I'm not so sure you'd be learning from the best, but we sure have a good time, meet knew people, and it gives us an opportunity to learn what our XJ's can and cannot do.

I've not been to Redbird yet. Has anyone been there enough to be somewhat familiar with the area?

There's a few guys here that know BadLands pretty well here such as myself. They have different levels there... Green, orange, white, blue, the quarry and PINK! A good place to see what your XJ can do. You have anything from sand, rocks, simply trails and MUD! Let me know when you guys go... looking to get back on the trails again after the wedding... :woohoo:

Ok, I'm thinking of Redbird on Sept. 18 or 25, and maybe a quick run on the trail in Brown County. What do you guys think?

All I know about Redbird is that I think it is a seasonal park and it's in Dugger, IN, which is about a half hour or so south of Terre Haute on 41 and then east on 51. Here is a link for more info.

I'm about 50 miles north of Redbird. If we'd like to set up a run there, I'd be happy to pre-run some of the trails. Not been down there yet ... sure would like to.

Yes, it is seasonal ... they have week day hours thru Sept 10th ... thereafter on weekends only through November. The property is owned by the state and is operated by the DNR. The park requires all vehicles to be registered (out of state honored) ... $10 per day entry fee.

Here is a link to the parks web site: http://www.redbirdsra.com/index.htm

Just for info, Combs road (small Brown Co trail) is closed. The DNR has placed large concrete barriers across the gate on the Story side. They are also impounding vehicles found on the trail.
Redbird officially opens April 2nd.
Got a local club I belong to doing a run to Haspin Acres on Sat the 26th, anyone is more than welcome to join us.

Hello Hoosier XJ/MJ owners. I Live in Bargersville, IN. I was involved in Naxja about 5 years ago when I had an Xj. Divorce forced me to sell it. I just recently purchasced an MJ. It is stock as a rock and currently doesn't run. I can not wait to start building it. Anyone out there have any extra old parts? (lift and such) to help me get started building this one. I also have a fellow new XJ'er in Greenwood who is putting together a Wag/XJ. We would like to get together and meet the other XJ's we see around town. What do you say southsiders lets get together for a beer @ Hooters sometime soon.

Hey MidWest guys - I'm fairly new here also, I migratated from Quadratec (they're heartless) to JeepsUnlimited (they're not very close-knit), to here. :) It's nice to see other XJs in Indiana, and I met Pat at an Arby's Drive-Thru LOL. He has a nice Jeep, it's just too bad mine's going to be bigger than his in about a week. :)

Edit: By the way, Combs Road IS a fun place to play, plus it's technically a public county road, and you can go wheeling there at 3am if you want (like I did). Kinda spooky so.....

Yeah night runs at combs are a good time, just gotta be careful of who you run into.

I went out there a couple weeks ago and only one end is blocked off. However, digger told me he spoke to a DNR guy that said is it officially closed and vehicles found on it could be impounded.

Howdy neighbor! So what is your main wheeler now?
Since you are local--can you recommend a good 16ft trailer dealer? Standard dual axle, brakes on at least if not both axles, wood. New trailer and no used tires.
So, now that Winterfest has came and gone, us Central/Southern IN. XJ'ers need a beer around here. Hooters, Shallos, etc... :wierd:
