What years did they put the 44 in the XJ's . 87 , 88 or 88 ,89 ?:confused:

All of the above with the 87 being the most common and the 89 being the least.

Will the dana 44 out of a 87 XJ bolt up to a 96 XJ ? Or will it need to be modified

It bolts right in. If you have a Mopar 8.25 rear axle, no other mods are needed. If you have a Dana 35 rear axle, you should shorten the drive shaft about 5/8"
