I bought a jeep without a engine or tranny.
its a 93 and i guess it had the 4.0ho. i was wondering if i had to have and Ho or could i use a regular 4.0 with the computer.

so my main question is..."do i have to use a 4.0ho setup in my 93 2dr xj, or could i use a regular 4.0"?

You're getting hung up on a badge name. The "High Output" doesn't mean that there's also a "Low Output" version as well. The 4.0L HO engine was used in the Cherokee from 91-01 although there were some differences by model year. 91-95, 96-99 included OBDII, and the 00-01 added about 3hp. The 87-89 4.0L used the same block but different head and computer so didn't quite make the same HP; these are commonly called "Renix" engines because of the Renault/Bendix computer.
