I just replaced engine mounts on the 97 I picked up a few weeks ago and as I pulled the drivers side one it fell appart (literally). I drove only few miles on it and it clanked a bit and when I looked under the hood you could see it being cracked all over and small pieces missing.
Anyways, I know we're all guilty of neglecting our junk but it is definately going to be less expensive to catch something early then deal with preventable breakage on a trail or the road.

i once walked away from my parked XJ, after running triple digits on the autobahn. Heard a little "tink" started looking around, to see where the noise came from and noticed the front disc pad sitting inside the front rim. Sucker seperated from the backing and just fell off. Got to thinking about hitting the brakes at a hundred miles an hour, with one front brake pad and got a cold sick feeling in my guts.
Check my ride out, pretty darned good, spring and fall. Clean the underside, use a flashlight, the heck with the dirt and grease , look close, do a systematic inspection and donīt miss much.
