Upgrade RE first gen (rod end) control arms to johnny joint?

I have searched, but haven't found any information. Does anybody have experience upgrading the first generation (I think) Rubicon Express control arms to a "johnny joint"? This for a normal XJ short arm application.
Would this work?:

The original rod end is 3/4"-16tpi. The "stud" is 1.8" long.
Please advise-

If you have RE adjustables now then just give RE a call,the Curries wont fit!If you have fixed arms then anything will work!I still prefer the RE joints over Currie's due to the easy adjustment/rebuild!

They are adjustable. They are just a little loose. I thought moving from a "heim / rod-end" to a "johnny type joint" would give me better performace.
So, I should just get the RE replacement "rod ends"? I don't believe this type is rebuildable.
