AW4 swapping and spline counts

Alright, here's the deal. I've got a D300 I want to put in and it has 23 spline. I have an 88 with a 242. I'm not sure of my spline count yet, but I believe it was 21 last time I counted- over 1.5 yrs ago. It seems to me that the only definative way to find a 23 spline is to get one from a 93 or newer. If I do this, is it going to bolt directly up? Did they change anything as far as electronics when they went to the HO?

Sean, The spline count pre '91 was 21. It changed to 23 in '91 with the HO's IIRC. As for the swap, I would think the tranny would swap over engine wise and converter wise but I don't know the difference between the Renix and Chy. controls electronically. What about swapping outputs on the AW4? Beezil should be able to shed light on that.
