Related 4.0 startup problem

have a 92 cherokee that acts funny after it has been sitting for a while. starting is never an issue and after it warms up its barely noticeable if its there at all. ill start it up and it will idle a little on the rough side, when i put in it in gear it will either die completely or the idle will drop and start surging up and down. once it is gear there is usually some hesitation right off the bat. after a little driving its not really a problem. in the past few months ive changed the fuel filter, plugs, cap and rotor, the wires really aren't that old. it seems to be an issue thats getting progressively worse. any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a dirty idle air controller (IAC).

there is also a possibility that an injector or so could be leaking down and loading up the cylinders after sitting for a while.
