has anyone used DHL lately?
I sent out Phil weeks a TC skid on the 21st from AZ to CA and its still tied up in UPS about 400 miles and its gonna take 12 days to get there.
Fed ex said it could not deliver maybe a web glitch
just signed up with DHL they merged with airborne express and provide complete service to lower 48 now
Anyone have any experience with them?
both ups and fedex have jumped in price Im trying to keep costs down so I can continue to offer the skids cheap with shipping included in price.

DHL handles all our overnight packages for work, and I haven't heard any complaints about them. However, I live in a large metropolitan area and most all our packages travel to DC, so I don't know how that relates to you since I'm pretty sure you live in a more remote area, correct?

I live in a fairly remote area, and have recently had some computer stuff shipped to me using DHL. Worked fine and was on time.

yeah live outside of a medium sized town. its 15 miles to drop off to fedex, 10 miles to drop off to ups and 4 for DHL.
Cool glenn thanks for the info, just trying to keep up and make my service a little better. I guess DHL does not surcharge 10% to pick up either like the other 2

We don't ship out using DHL. We are located in a small town, and they simply don't offer an acceptable pick-up window.
We have had some drop-offs, and the drivers haven't been acceptable. Kicking packages off the truck, throwing packages, dropping off damaged stuff and saying 'its not my fault' These however were contract drivers.(own their own trucks, and have contracts to DHL).
Their claims process is as bad as Fed-ex.

Ive never had a claim problem with FEDEX and If it was me Id been on the phone with DHL while the driver was still there to complain about the service.
The driver who drops off here is great.

Out here it's Fed Ex that sucks. T
They leave the stuff I order in my front yard. They left my bumper sitting next to my trash cans at the curb. Good thing the trash collector had already come or he'd have taken my bumper. I got my money back for shipping but will avoid Fed Ex at all costs in the future

Barger, that's one to make sure that FedEx Customer Service know that they've got a real yo-yo for a driver. My g/f was heading out of town for a week, and they left a package for her at the front door of her apartment building. If she'd left on time, she'd have never gotten it (yes, that's completely contrary to all deliveries here.)
DHL? Heh...... ask them about losing medical samples off the back of the truck.
Short story is that nobody gets it right every time.

If you don't want a package left let the shipper know a signature is required. The driver would be in alot of trouble if something happened and he left something.

I use Fedex every week for my business apts for insurance from Philly to Dalles, overnight and 3rd day and haven't had a problem with them once. I use UPS for ebay stuff and have had a only one problem. With my old job doing mail order we used all three. UPS always seemed to have a problem going into and out of the midwest hub in Chicago. Maybe LA or SF has this same problem. But stuff that should have taken 2-3 days took 5-6 days through Chicago. Don't know why, so we used 2nd day for all ground. DHL has delivered may things to me on time and without problem. Juice

I can't tell you how many sig traces we have done, and come up with D.River for a signature on the shipment through Fed-Ex Ground(old RPS)

Yeah my favorite was sig of U.P. Yors drivers sign for themselves quite often cuz they dont wanna come back and thenits your burden to prove it was the driver

Someone said something about fed-ex dropping by the trash cans. I had some D-shafts delivered to my house, instead of work where my Fed-ex guy is a Jeeper, so I always get good service.
I come home from a couple day work trip expecting to see new d-shafts waiting to be installed. They weren't here, I got a hold of the shipper, and was told, well D.River signed for them. I asked the shipper, to bill D.River for the shafts then not me. All of the sudden they wanted to know what happened to the shafts.
I got new shafts, and the company got the money out of Fed-Ex.
Spring arrives, and I see my moron neighbor trying to figure out how to use my missing driveshafts under his Chevy. About three weeks later, I see the shafts tossed in the trash.
