View Full Version : Where do you people come up with these names?
Drewlee77
May 1st, 2003, 16:08
Just curious what yall's names mean. Some of them are pretty easy to figure out (particularly the ones involving just your name!) but some are completely hidden from me....
btw- mine is nothing special, just the same name and email address I have used for eight or nine years. it's my first and middle name (somewhat of a pun if you say it quickly) and my favorite number.
Just curious... I like to know what things mean...

yeah, it's a turquiose ish blue XJ. it's a touchy subject with me if anyone calls it teal or green. Actually I've been wondering what the factory name for my paint is, I think I've narrowed it down to either Glamour Turquoise or Banzai Blue but couldn't tell definitavely via the internet source I was looking at as to which one matched....

May 2nd, 2003, 08:18
Kejtar : has no real meaning except it's a butchetered version of my middle name (Kiejstut) and run with my last name which starts with R....... Picked it up ohhhhh sometime between 15 and 20 years ago and it kind of stuck with me since :) :) I have used it in US primarily while on the web :) :) as it's harder to pronounce for most people then the shortened version of my first name (Remi).... btw, if anyone's curious... it's pronounced keytar :) :)

Well a november b-day makes me a Scorpio and I got stung by a scorpion once and my first license plate had SKORPYO on it, and the ball team in HS used to call me that on the field so I started using it as an online handle...not exciting, but that where it came from

May 2nd, 2003, 11:40
You got stung by a freakin' scorpion...that's not exciting at all....... I'm a weird one that has a subtle liking towards pain, but I just can't imagine what that's like. That fang on the end of their tail...they just freak the hell out of me. Thank god for the northeast.

TRL WGN 1
May 2nd, 2003, 13:27
I have an Wagoneer which I use primarily for Trail running, so Trail Wagoneer shortened to Trail Wagon, drop the vowels and TRL WGN and I needed a number to make my license plates cheaper so what better number than good ole #1? It works :dunno:
:wierd:
Having a number on a vanity plate makes it cheaper? Where are you, anyhow? I've not heard of that - I thought vanity plates were pretty much a screw job everywhere. Hell, California charges extra for Veteran, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart plates! Y'ask me, those should be bloody FREE!

When I first signed up I didn't have a Jeep. I was new to the internet thing and wasn't comfortable using my real name so I made one up that reflected my interests. I was heavily into mountain biking and my daily driver was a motorcycle soooo this is what I came up with. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

Well I'm not fat but my XJ was when I got it, at least i thought so. So I decided to put my Fat XJ on a diet and lose some weight and build up some bulk. I do the same thing with every vehicle I own. I thougth the name was very befitting of my mentality on performance.
I like to ski and the name of my skis are the "skogen sprag pro model" we got tired of calling them that when discussing them between friend so we started to call them skogs. then i pick up the name skog. just for gramitical sake the o is a long O

Well, the name is Arya Ebrahimi. Arya can also be a girls name in Iran(where my father is from), so I drop the last A most times. I still answer to both, so it doesn't really matter. It's pronounced like "R E uh" or "R E" for short. Oh yeah, and I drive an '01 XJ ;) BTW, I'd really like to know where Beezil comes from(been buggin me for like a year) :) Peace

XJguy
May 2nd, 2003, 23:52
Umm not too much mystery to mine but there is a history. I am XJguy in every email, news group, and any other online service or feature. I took on the name even before I discovered the XJ only forums. Way back then I used to visit car chat rooms on AOL, so XJguy was the name I have used, often confused for Jaguar owner. I was the only guy who was making essentially a race car out of a Jeep..all I could think about was my Jeep. Everyone said why not just buy a sports car..I said no I love my Jeep..hence I am the XJguy. Now moer than evey I am the XJ guy since I am starting a business that at least for the time being only caters to XJs.

5-90, I am in Illinois, and here if you follow the norm for plates-passenger, letters then numbers, no more than 8 and trucks, numbers then letters no more than 7 (I believe) then they are standard plates. Vanity would be those that don't follow this pattern, IE no numbers
78 bucks a year for standard plates

there is also a tree that grows in Israel, around Ashkelon, and it's name is 'eshel'.

okay, my turn....
the reason i haven't really posted about my name, is that there's no funny story, its kinda lame actually.....
an old girlfriend started calling me that a long damn time ago, see, my friends just call me "Bee" and somehow, it turned into "Bees" or i guess "Beez" and she just came up with "beezil" one night after too many beers and it just stuck......lame story huh?
I found a jeep forum called the "answerman" in 1994, yep, its been a while now! So many damn forums! I decided to use "Beezil" as my username, cause at the time, I was a little suspicious of "internet people" so i avoided posting any info that related to me in any way. So I've been "Beezil" on jeepforums for 9 years now....

Sarge
June 29th, 2005, 04:54
Spent 13 years as a Marine with over 1/2 of those as a Sergeant. In the Marines Sarge is an insult, considered an Army term. Had a good upcoming Marine who was going dirtbag, looking like a civvie or even worse a sailor! Kept on his butt and he started calling me Sarge to insult me. Since my Dad was a Sarge in the Army it didn't bother me. We finally "straightened" things out one day behind the barracks. He's now a GySgt and will most likley climb some more while I'm the dirtbag, long haired, tattooed, pierced civvie. Been called that since probably 1986-7.

...BOB
Had a friends dad who had a Truck named BOB.... Bucket Of Bolts.
Mine came from roomates while drinking.. lots of Friends named Chris.. one of the few with a K, so i have been thru many nick-names... LudaKris stuck, mainly after Ludacris came out on MTV.. shortened to LUDA... which is easy because in a crowded bar, and after many beers, I would be the only one to turn around... thats all, nothing more, kinda boring, kinda gay..
Zoro
June 29th, 2005, 07:25
Zoro is my XJ's name. When I got it, it had this antenna ball with the Wal-Mart smiley face dressed up like Zoro so the name stuck.........
Cottontail
June 29th, 2005, 07:35
Shortly after buying my XJ, I busted the fiberglass tailgate. The only one in the junkyard in good condition was a white one. My jeep is grey.
Once I got the tailgate on, it looked like a rabbit...grey body and white tail, so I named it "COTTONTAIL" after the rabbit in the children's books.
My ZJ is named "the Truck." Before my first date (blind date) with my wife, I mentioned that I was going to get the truck washed before I came to pick her up. She later told me that she thought that I probably had a pickup when I called it a truck.
I'm hoping to get a new (another) XJ in a few months to replace Cottontail. I already have a name picked out for it, so if I get the new XJ, don't be suprised to see this thread re-opened!!!

Somehow I missed this thread when it was new... probably during that period when I was metamorphosizing from NAC to MWC material.
Lawn Cher'... I used to mow lawns, and the Cher' part is obvious. That, and I sometimes carry a folding lawn chair when I wheel. (Gotta have a good place to sit for lunch!)

Beej
June 29th, 2005, 12:02
My initials are BJ, for years buddies have called me 'beejay' and my brother 'deejay', over time it just shortened to 'beej'... Unfortunately, my buddies also use the term 'beejay' for its other meaning, short for 'blowjob', and it also has been shortened to 'beej'. So occasionally, a friend will say, 'Hey Beej, I just got a wicked beej from a chick I picked up last night'. I've stopped being incensed and now just punch them out...

Then, when I was signing up for.... I don't even remember what, it was already taken, so I added the year. 97, but that was taken too, so I added the zero.

8Mud
June 29th, 2005, 15:17
MudderChuck was my board name on some other sites. It was MotherChuck when I was starter at the local Mud Races, got Changed to MudderChuck somewhere along the line. Mother was a generic nickname, for the guys, that did safety and tech, inspections for most types of racing, back in the old days.
I started using 8Mud here, because my my old name offended some people, with lively imaginations.
8Mud is what you do, if you smile, while starting a mud drag. Also the answer you give the wife, when she asks how the race was.

You played the name game into your 20s?

I got mine from some family and friends. Back in the day before Moab got so popular I was the only one of my friends that knew where any trails were. Don't know who called me Doc Moab first but it kind of stuck. Now I don't feel as worthy since it has become so popular. Lots more people know it way better then I do.

Yucca-Man
June 30th, 2005, 00:09
In 1996 while at CAX (Combined Arms Exercise) in 29 Palms, California I was walking guard duty one night in our ordnance compound. I'm not a small guy, and as Gunnery Sergeant Jon Fimea came around the corner of a tent and saw me silhouetted against the lights of the main camp, he almost took out a tent in his haste to back up and get out of there. As he related the story, the "Yucca-Man" is a relative of the Pacific Northwest's Sasquatch or Bigfoot, and has been sighted a few times around the 29 Palms area over the years.
http://www.yuccaman.com/icons/bigfoot.jpg
One report in the early 70s came from a guard at the armory who bumped into something that bent his rifle in half before leaving him alone in the dark. Other reports have the Yucca-Man ambling around the high desert near 29 Palms and Joshua Tree Park, finding tents in the wilderness and eating the crunchy things in those handy carrying bags...
I'll admit there's some resemblance under certain conditions, especially when I wander around barefoot with my Size 15s - but that's all I'll say fer now...

Sure it's not for "Frank Zappa?" I haven't shaved my soul patch off since he left us. Such wonderful things he's said...
"Do you know what you are?/You are what you is/You is what you am/ a cow don't make ham."
"The crux of the biscuit/is the apostrophe"
"What out where/the huskies go/and don't you eat/the yellow snow!"
(No, I didn't grow it on its own - that would be stupid. It's usually accompanies by a van Dyke, a full beard, or (rarely!) a Fu Manchu!)

Originally I made it to see how long it would take to get the first SPAM email in an unused email account when the address is an Alpha numaric code.
In 99 it to exactly 2 weeks 3 days to get my first spam e-mail without ever using the address for anything.... It's now my primary spam account..

welp, i made a name on The Ranger Station back when i owned - a Black Ford Ranger and that name sucked - then i never found that forum again...
i made a name on pirate because my buddies 3wheeldrive and f150prerunner told me to and that pirate was the sheiate - and at the time i was looking for an XJ and had a Ranger....
I still frequent the Ford section of Pirate with what little i learned about the TTB IFS setup and the knowledge of where all the sensors on the truck that when smacked with bushes and mud will break and cause your car to not pass smog - that and the fawked up 4cylender engine with 8 sparkplugs...
every once in a while i get PM's from airborn rangers and stuff like that asking what unit i was in - and have to tell them that i havent had my chance to serve yet...
after college... then ill join to be a hummer mechanic...
