Ok I am just about ready to get my 8.8 in and I have heard that I can reuse the u-bolt spring plates from my 8.25. I might have to enlarge the holes a little but it will work. Any one else heard this or has done it?? I have looked into getting some spring plates but the cost I see for them seems crazy.

( spring plate is the top plate the u-bolts go threw to keep the spring pack and axle connected together )

Thanks

You can. The 8.25 has 3" OD tubes, and the 8.8" has 3.25" OD tubes. Grind it out and it will fit.

Or you could make some beefier perches out of square tubing.

Hey Static-XJ
I am not talking about the spring pearches but the top plate. It should work from what I hear.

Yes more makes a nice expensive kit for this aplication. They charge way to much for there kit.
Thanks for the input guys

I think Static-XJ was pointing out that the tops of the U-bolts are 1/4" larger on the 8.8(distance b/w the ends is what I'm talking about), but that you should be able to grind out the holes in the spring plate to fit. Just how I read it, and it makes sense to me. Peace

Thanks for the input guys Yeah, I totally misread that yeaterday. Very hetic day for me. Understand it now.

Is there enough metal to grind them out? And that could leave some play in it. I'd just make a new one by drilling holes out on a flat piece of steel.
