Where is it at? And also where is the Balast Resister? Thanks a bunch.
I have an 89 Mj with a 4.0.

On a side note. What is the resistance on the Balast resistor supposed to be? Thanks.

Both are on the left fender wall

I would think that the fuel pump relay location on the MJ is the same as the XJ. That would be the right side, not the left.

Give this a read. Quite interesting if not totally applicable to your question. :read:

I found the Balast pretty easy just by looking. But the relay that is close to it isn't the fuel pump relay. It is the EGR soliniod Relay.
The fuel pump relay is the second from the front in the relay center. It is the onlt that was in mine that had only 4 wires going to it.
Thanks for the read. I had always wondered that myself. That noise is an important diagnostic tool. Turn the key to the on position, WWWWHHHHIIIRRRRRR 'stop", the motor is primed and ready to go.
Now does anyone know what the resistance should be on the balast resistor?

i believe it says it on the resistor near the bolt that holds it on. if i remember correctly, 1.1 ohms

I measured 1.2 so that is pretty close. Thanks everyone.
