Ratio Question ???

I have a Dana 44 in an 87 XJ......I still can't find the ratio. What came with the 44's? Is it Trac-loc?

if you dont see the ratio stamped on th i.d. tag on the rear diff cover, look for it on the front diff. the ratios have to be the same.

would it be on the long tube of a D30 ?

it should be on the i.d. tag bolted to the diff cover

of course its missing....front and back...just my luck

then you need to remove one of the diff covers and count the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide it by the number of teeth on the pinion gear. if both rear wheels spin in the same direction by hand while in the air it is limited slip if they spin in opposite directions then it isn't

'87 XJ. If it's a 4.0L, 5-speeds were 3.07 and automatics were 3.54.

If it's a 4-cyl, could be 4.10, 3.73, 3.54 or even 3.31.
