Probably a dumb question....

Jump This

Just another minion!
This is one question I wish I could ask under someone elses name!
Soooooo...on a RE transfer case drop kit....we are provided with four bolts...spacers..and some sleeves.
Problem I see is the cross member is installed with a bolts and with nuts on some studs....are the studs threaded into some type of a nutsert? Are they removed by threading on both nuts and backing out the inner bolt?
And what the heck are the sleeves for?
Rick......

Use a stud extractor, or you can double-nut the stud. I found it was a lot easier on mine to actually tighten it a tad before removal. Vise-Grips also work well; you don't want to keep the stud when you're done anyway.

You may have some success by giving the stud a little 'tap' upward while putting some torque on it. However, do NOT give in to the urge to whack the crap outta the stud or you'll lose the nutsert in the frame.

There are NO dumb questions, only dumb people who ask questions.
