Front Axle Problem

I am replacing the front axel on my 87MJ( 4 wheel drive) with a axle from a 94 XJ. When I went to install the axle from the XJ I noticed it was different. It has no shift motor housing and no where that a vacuum line would attach. With the MJ axle you could turn the wheels when it was in 2 wheel drive and the pinion shaft wouldn't turn. With the XJ axle the pinion shaft turns. Can I use this axle in my MJ. Everything thing else fits. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

you can use it, and it's a bit stronger setup. the only change will be the pinion will always be spinning. you may lose 1mpg and if your front d-shaft is out of balance you will get vibes

Brett : Thanks for the speedy reply. I looked at the pics of your truck. Looks great. I did the body of mine in box liner insstead of paint. Looks like you have done the same, or is it just dirty.
