My experiance with the Haynes manual is that if it says to do something, that is abbout the only thing that won't work. :D
I mean't hints from someone that has done it before. ;)

It may depend on what pins you have. My 87 had roll pins, and they were pretty easy to punch out with an appropriate sized punch. I'm not sure how the later solid pins go though.
It's a lot easier to get at things if you take the door off the hinges first.
By the way, if you have roll pins and want to replace them, standard 1/4 inch ones will work. Tractor places have them in bins.

Before you take the hinges off of the door sil, trace around them with a marker and watch how the shims go in. It'll make aligning the doors much easier when you put them back on.
