Overhead consoles (again)

Would overhead consoles work from older XJ's or Grand Cherokees? I want to find a nice one for cheap but all the ones I can find on eBay are from Grand Cherokees. I would think I need an OC for 97-01 XJ's. (I have a '98)

You can modify the Grand Cherokee (ZJ) ones to fit. My dad did this last summer on his 2000. Looks stock.

Be patient, you'll eventually find the correct XJ console.
The ZJ consoles can be modded to fit but they won't wire up correctly. You'll be able to power up the compass/temp/dome lights, but all of the mileage & computer functions won't work. XJ's use a different data bus than the ZJ. It's XJ specific. (they do share the same display though) The ZJ shares the same data bus as the Caravan/Voyager/Town & Country mini vans.
