Rear Defroster Install???

I just purchased a switch bezel for my 1988 for the left had side that has a fog light and rear defroster switch. Is there a way for me to take advantage of the rear defroster??? I dont not have one now, but it would be nice to have one. Maybe the wiring is there, just not hooked.

Do you have the tailgate glass for the rear defroster? That's the stuff with the electrically conductive traces on the inside surface. That's the REAL key to a rear defroster.

No, I am assuming that is the first step then. I was not sure if there is any surface mount material available for my application.
