In your best guess, what do you thing would cause an AW4 to not down shift from 3rd gear sometimes and yet would upshift properly and not slip? I am running out of options. The remaining options are 1) the valve body, 2) internal switches and sensors and 3) the TCM. Some days it works flawless while other days it is down right depressing (for a couple of miles in the city). I have not had a problem on the highway and the MPH verses RPM seems to be right on target.
Your input and that of everyone else are appreciated.

TPS been checked? If there's anything wrong with that little thing it can make the AW4 miserable.

Same thing with the kick down cable.

agreed on the throttle position sensor.

It's probably starting to fail.

other things would be the NSS and brakelight switch.

Intermittent problems are ALWAYS electrical in nature w/ the aw4.

if the shifts feel sloppy (too rough, or too drawn out) then look at the throttle valve cable
