First off Welcome....
Second I would not ever go on any trail by yourself...Even if you are just poking around a bit make sure there is at least one other rig that is with you and possibly knows the trail...
Third My first Trail in Moab was Poison Spider Mesa...fun trail that you can run up then back down to make it a shorter trip....

I agree.. You should always go with someone however, I've gone down there alone a lot of times and hang out at City Market. There's always some group going out on a run. Good thing about Jeepers.....They seem to take care of their own. I've always been able to find someone to invite me on a trail. It's also a good way to learn the trails. You can get lost out there and when it heats up being lost out on the slickrock is not a place you want to be.
Off my soap box,
Welcome and just post a date when you want to go down. Someone always seems to be headed that way.
Later,
Joe

That's worked for me in the past as well, especially if you run into a group with 1 or 2 XJ's but prolly any "mixed bag" kinda group would be cool with it :wave1: If you do go out by yourself go get the guide book from the visitors center ( it's $20 or so) it's the bible for finding your way around & is very thurough in it's directions. Lastly, I don't know what your exp. level is, but stay within it & don't get to far from town! 2 yrs ago at EJS I ran Flat Iron Mesa with my bro.inlaw riding shotgun. I was covinced we wouldbe running into people all day long, the only guy we saw in 7 hrs was the cable guy cruising the power line rd, 200 yds from the highway :twak: It wouldn't have been hard to bust something 6mi. from the highway :wstupid:
Fins-n-Things is a fun area with a lot of moderate obstacles & doesn't get more than 1 mi from the Sand Flats Campground.
Go out & have some fun , hook up with other Jeepers, spread the word, keep the faith, & come back & tell us how cool it all was!! :guitar:
