wtf? seriously. I've NEVER seen a weaker tire than these freakin BFG mall terrians I picked up. I punched through two sidewalls in less than 2 weeks of owning these tire-shaped piles of shit.
these things make my old dunlop mud rovers seem tough! hell, they held up worse than my futura scrambler H/Ts (thinnest sidewalls I have EVER seen on a tire)

I don't know about yours but my AT's never failed me. I even used to run on my old jeep one with a huge chunk ripped out of the sidewall for a couple of months and no failures there either.

My first set of 32's were BFG MT's and my first set of 33's were BFG's. I cut them so many times that it was a real pleasure to replace them and I'll never go back.
Well, maybe a set of Krawlers some day........ :)

Well, I've had two of my BFG AT/KO's replaced under roadhazard warranty, first one last year for a ringshanked nail thru the sidewall that I got while turning around in the grass on a pull over area of a road. I just had the second one replaced yesterday. There was a 12" long 'crack' around the inside of the tire, about a 1/2" out from the wheel bead. I have no idea how long I have had it or have driven with it but I noticed it two weeks or so ago. The tire guy said I was lucky and that the crack was a bad thing....
I like the tires but I never had this amount of trouble with my stock GSA's, Pirelli Scorpions or Dunlop rover AT's.

How's the compound on them bitches, Crash? Mine's a DD so I don't want something that's going to wear down too fast, ya dig? I'm ruling out Swampers for that reason...
Holla back. :wstupid:

You'll get 25,000 out of them on a DD with weekend rock duty thrown in.
Maybe 30,000 or more if it's highway duty.

:bs: We run BFG knock-offs, thank you.
*edit* Thanks Crash. Seems reasonable to me. Besides, I don't want to be a poseur wannabe with BFGs. :D

The few SE folks I've talked to (with MTRs) bitched about weak sidewalls too.
Wet, sharp rocks & roots (or sheetmetal) are tough on any sidewall. I've killed my share of tires down here. Last season's tally was a Wide Climber MT, a Swamper TSL Radial, and a Wild Country sort-of MT.
Part of the trick is knowing when they go flat so ya can reseat or change it out before the rim & rocks have their way with the tire.

Strong sidewalls isn't one of them.

Because there's no mud on the west coast, thats the reason.
My old style BFG muds are all hacked up on the sidewalls with a 3 square inch chunk missing out of one of them and they're still holding air.
I've been debating weather or not to replace them with the same or try something different. Swamper's possibly.

MTR's suck in mud. We are mud challenged.
We have rocks. Big nasty rocks of all shapes and sizes. MTR's like to climb rocks.
Do we cut MTR's? Of course. Are they worlds better than most tires? Definately.
The only tires more cut resistant are Swamper SX's and perhaps Krawlers. I have never been impressed by the SX's in the rocks. Krawlers may be a better tire, but the limited availability and price have kept most of us from switching.

I have to add that I wasn't knocking BFGs. I think they're the best radial mud tire produced. I've torn the crap out of them for many years and they're still holding air and have half the tread left.
