Good job, pres, nice article. Not sure if the rig will be ready for this weekend, but at least it's good to be part of a great group like this.

So what's left to do on the rig? Is the engine in yet?

The engine was being put in monday..so, the hangup for the past 5 days has been the fuel rails, mostly. Conversion from 96 motor to 89 body. I don't have the tech savvy to do it, and XJeeper's knocked his socks off, getting the info to the mechanic. Just one of those things. I'll send some stuff for the raffle with Popeye, he's going down Thursday. We work M/T/W nights, so, being done saturday, would have worked for us, pretty well. We'll see, it might be done monday, and a couple of us could do without sleep to get it, but 0 time to do the last minute stuff on it. Just the way things go. As you know, I has some reservations about the brakes and such, and other issues. Didn't much want to 'test' it on some rock trail with a bunch of people in harms way, so, maybe it's best if I sat this one out, this late in the game.

I've got a definite maybe...but enough about sex.... apparently we almost had the BBQ early, since an o ring sprayed fuel all over. JR's waiting for that to come in, had called 90 minutes ago, still not there..however, IF I don't get a call tonight, saying it's not ready, I'll go in in the morning, after work (get off at 6 am) and pick it up. Still won't have time to get stuff done, not with 12 hour shifts, but, I'll just say screw it, and show up, ragged and unready, but there. Once more into 'er breeches, we band of brothers...

So if the engines ready tomorrow, you'll be able to drive it out to Moab right?
Hope it's ready!

Be sure to get that fuel rail sealed up tight. Several years a go a buddy of mine sprung a leak in his XJ just outside of Green River. We were waiting for him to show up in Moab to run a few trails with us. We got the phone call around and coundn't believe what happened.
He probably would not been able to save it even if he had an extinguisher with him.

Can't get it today, cuz...it won't fire up. He'll work on it today, if it's ready, I can get it tomorrow and still make Moab...but again, it'll be untested...except at moab.

I have a buddy that bought a nice built used XJ a few years back, which had just had the injectors replaced prior to the purchase.........it developed a fuel leak on the way to Powder Mtn. Resort :flame:.......by the time the fire truck made it up the mountain, there was nothing left but a smoking pile of twisted uni-body, melted into the asphalt.

Poomba flambe, now there's a cheerful thought. That's okay, I'm 1/4 Swedish, I can throw myself on the jeep and go to Valhalla. IF the vehicle is done in the next hour, I can catch a ride with Popeye into town in the morning, he's got to go south a day early, do family stuff. Which means grab the jeep, drive it home, go to work with 3 hours sleep, work 13 hours, drive it home, mount the toothbrush on the bumper, and by the gods, there BETTER be a liquor store in Moab, open, when I drive into town 5 hours later.
Not that I'm stressing, cuz, I'm a go with the flow, what, me worry kinda GUY ya know, all cool under pressure and...and..hey, M-60 mount on the Wilderness bumper, would that squeak, or just make it top heavy? I love adventures, cuz, they're not all planned out, and that's fun! No one lives thru them, but with the forensics team figuring things out, they know they had fun, and that's what counts. But nope, I'm not worried, nope, not me, huh uh! Oh, I got a thursday cabin at Slickrock. If the jeeps not ready, I'll post here, let someone use it, then the friday/saturday cabin at Canyonlands. That's the plan, anyway, not that it'll be needed, cuz, it'll start in the next hour, and the brakes will be fine, and it won't catch on fire, and I won't have to toss myself on the burning pile of cash I call Poomba, show up at Ragnarok, pull Odin One-Eye aside and say, Buddy, we gotta talk.... I'm going to work, where they will hand me a M-16, and a 9mm, I'll put on a gas mask and a flak vest, and as long as they don't say, Reese, take the jeep over to the chem lab...I'll be okay, really.

Well, it's put together, but not firing. If it gets going by 10 or so, I'll have a ride in to pick it up. If not, see you guys in October.

Dang Jon, that sucks. I was over there this afternoon and saw the rig. I guess they were going to try and use your old injectors and see if that made a difference.
That's alright. We'll have to do a local run somewhere.
Saw Brian R. rig there, it was done. Saw Todds Limo there without a rear axle, guess he may not make it as well.

Well, talked myself into going down there anyway, I'll be there (slickrock camping ground) in a silver...bleh....Saturn. Thursday night. So, I'll likely hitch a ride with Popeye for Kane Creek and PS trails. Not happy, but hell, at least I won't be here. Was gonna pick up some firewood, but it's raining like hell, sooo..ah well, plans are over-rated.

My Jeep is almost done. 'WHEN' JR is done, I need to take it to get an alignment and have a new alternator put in before heading to Moab tonight. ...oh yeah, I almost forgot, I still need to finish out the day here at work.
