I have come across a NP242 w/ 90K on it from an 89 XJ. the driveshaft is also available to me. I have a 88 NP231 w/ auto trans. would i need the driveshaft that was respective to the 242 case or will my current DS work w/ the 242?

how hard is a 242 to rebuild and how much $ ? can you buy standard kit type things or?

thanks

the seals and bearings kit can be purchased for around 100 bucks.

a name-brand chain for a little more than 60.

you will probabbly need range and mode shift fork pads too.
