2.5L oil pump?

perhaps is the oil pump on the 2.5L the same as the oil pump on the mopar 318?

Highly unlikely. The 318 is a Mopar V-8. The 2.5L is an AMC I-4 that is essentially a shortened version of the 4.0L. If anything I would expect that the 2.5L oil pump might be the same as the 4.0L oil pump, possibly with a different pickup tube since the 2.5L has a much smaller oil pan.
