A few questions...

Toy Jeep driver!

Flagstaff, AZ
I DID read the other posts. :confused1 :dunce:
Here's what I need to know:
1. If I tow my junk there, where can I park the tow rig?
2. How many days will we be away from "civilization"? I need to plan food and gear for four adults in the back of the XJ.

Thanks!

The tow rig will likely have to be moved once. For Fordyce, the rig can be parked at the thousand trails campground, which is at the beginning of the trail. Or, alternately, you could park it at the end of the trail so it will be there when we finish. That would be at Meadow Lake.

Then, for the Rubicon portion, you can park it at the end of the trail, in the staging area. There is plenty of room there, but it is not monitored. There have been very few problems, however. The staging area is at the end of McKinney-Rubicon Rd, near the town of Tahoma, right on the shore of Lake Tahoe.

there are other alternatives as well.

Which trails will you be running?

I would just be doing the Rubicon portion. That's the 16th-20th, correct?

Bill, if you're coming from AZ you'll probably be coming up Hwy 395, in which case you can leave your tow rig in South Lake. As we get closer, talk to Porch Puppy (Andy), who'll be coming from the same direction and always leaves the tow rig at one of the casinos. This makes it so you don't have to do any back tracking to the tow rig.

Yeah, this makes a big difference. If you're just doing the 'Con, casino-ing the tow rig would work well. Then, it's about a 1.5 hour drive from the casino to the staging area. When we get out of the trail, it would be twenty minutes back to your tow rig.....

4 nights on ther trail. See the registration form about dinner Sunday night, it should be very good. :)

Not gonna make it...
My wife can't get her vacation time changed to that week. Someone else already nabbed it.
Looks like we'll be doing the Colorado run after all.
