Kay, putting a new fuel pump in Saturday, and mounting the tool box in there while I've got the gas tank off and out of the way. But my major concern now, is getting my 4x4 and transmission linkages fixed. I have to slam it into gear (automatic) to get it to do things, it hangs up a lot, and won't start in park 1/5th of the time. Further, the part time light stays on, and I often can't get it into 4 low. So, who around is a reputable shop to do linkages right the first time, cuz we all know, I only have a couple shots of gettting this done, before Moab. There's some things I'm okay doing myself, but this ain't one of 'em, but the tranny 'feels' okay, and the fluid was perfect, back in July when I bought it, and replaced it, just in case. I've got some other work I'd like to get done, but the inability to reliably start, or get it from 2 wheel to 4 wheel..has me majorly concerned. Looking to get the work done the first weekend in april, and if I have to take time off to get it done, I will, I'm that serious about getting it completed in time. Most of you know, I live 110 miles from SLC, and work nights, so..means I'll stay in town until its done, I guess, so prefer a shop that can get right on it.
TIA, Jon :pig:

Got the fuel pump replaced. Its (the new one) longer than the old one, didn't quite fit the bracket that went inside, that attaches to the float. The real problem though, was the screen that fits on the end of the pump, to keep out the larger particles and such in the tank itself. The old screen just had a sock like thing, while the new one has the same thing, inside a plastic holder, which was too ridgid/long to fit. Took a long time to figure that was the problem, and after using all the normal words, trimmed the stupid thing with tin snips and it went in. I thought we'd have to drop the tank, but we drained enough fuel into gas cans by jumpering the relay to pump it out, prayed there'd be no sparks within about 3 miles, and found the pump is actually on the front of the tank, not the top. This should prolly be in tech, or, in my case, hopelessly non-tech, but anyway, the jeep works. Just doesn't start all the time and the linkages are still stiff as hell. Maybe from disuse, or something else. I don't know. Used strapping material, like you put on hot water heaters to earthquake proof 'em to the walls, to keep the fuel pump in place, so it won't move around in the bracket inside. :viking:

Used Cuthrubus, in layton, for the parts, trying to show we support those who support us, for what that's worth.
