Rear wheelbase Question

Im throwing a dana 60 on my 88 in the rear and have had to move and weld new perches and shock mounts. The 60 is off a 73 FORD and it has a much wider wheel base than my front. I dont have the money to buy the 44 for the front but I was wondering if I can run the stock axle on the front with 38's just on the pavement for a couple of weeks. I know it will tear the shit out off it when i drive anywhere off pavement. The wider wheelbase in the rear wont screw up anything for time being will it?
