What's the largest tire you can put on a stock 93XJ sport without a lift and having them rub all the time? The ones on it now are 225/70 15's.
Thanks,
Mike Harris

235 75/15 will fit without rubbing. So I've been told

I put 30x9.50 on mine stock before I actually installed my 3" lift. They fit fine on the street but would have rubbed some off road.

I have 235's on my 94 Sport. Had them on about a year before I lifted it. Never had a problem rubbing before the lift. If I recall correctly, the Limited's came with 235's standard but every trim level below that got the 225's. From what I've heard the 30x9.50's will only rub at full steering lock, but I can't speak from personal experience. This has been covered alot recently, you might try doing a search for "tire size no lift" or something along those lines. Could turn up more info.

Never seen limiteds with 235s standard, or any XJ for that matter with factory 235s...always 225s. The 2001 Limited I test drove and luckily didn't buy had 225/75R16s on it, Icon rims. 225/75R16 is larger than a 225/75R15
That's the largest factory tire size I've seen on an XJ.

30x9.5s will fit with NO rubbing stock IF you use TJ 15x8 RIMS, gamblers, canyons, ravines.

Not if it was stock. The 2000 and 2001 Classic and Limited came with 225/70R16s ... 70-series, not 75-series. The lower profile takes about an inch off the height, so they are actually virtaully identical in rolling size to the 225/75R15s taht came on the Sport, and on the '99 and earlier Classic and Limited models.

I ran 235/75r15's on my 93 sport for the last 4 years including plenty of off road time with a good inch of sag in the rear springs for the last couple years and never had them rub. I never disconnected the antisway bars during that time so I couldn't tell you if that would make a difference but I doubt it...

Whoops my bad.
225/70R16s, on XJ, 225/75R16s on WJs...
I bought a set of STs off of a WJ and that 225/75R16 which is yes an inch taller than a 225/75R15 is stuck in me head. The 225/75R16 is a nice size on a stock XJ as well. sits as high as a 235. and close to a 30, at least in my comparisons of having them all parked side by side by side(225/75R16s on 87 XJ, 30x9.5R15s on 96 XJ, and 235/75R15s on 88 MJ).

I'll go sit in the corner.
