A bud of mine just got an 87 XJ 4.0 I believe aw4 and 242. If the shifter linkage isn't set right on the tranny will it slip trying to take off in first? It doesn't seem to be going all the way into park either, thus the reason I'm thinking the linkage is part of the prob. If you put it in 1'st manually and take off it's fine and shifts as it should when you go to drive after moving. Any input would be helpful as I have no experience with this tranny.
