Posi Lock question

I just installed a Posi Lock and haven't traced all the vaccume lines yet. My question is does the black vaccume storage tank need to be retained does it operate anything else? I have a 89 Cherokee, automatic.

It operates all your heat and vent controls, so I wouldn't ditch it...

Thanks glad I asked before I did something stupid. I guess I'll have to relocate it some place better that were it is now.
